Before receiving Spinal Decompression treatment I experienced moderate sciatica and low back stiffness especially on the left side. Treatments were painless and easy …
I would like to take this time to express my sincere appreciation on giving me my life back.
I was recently brought down to my knees with the most extreme pain I had ever felt by lifting a simple 1-gallon can of paint. I did not know exactly what I had done or what action would be required to alleviate or correct my problem. The only thing I did know was I would go to all extremes to avoid surgery.
I sought medical advice approximately 1 month later after a week-long trip to Louisiana for business. I was struck with such bad pain while changing flights in Detroit that I was unable to stand for more than 10 minutes. I knew I was in trouble when I ended up in a wheelchair until I returned home.
I finally decided “enough is enough” and determined that I would need to seek help. I started with a spine doctor who ordered x-rays, an MRI and a CT scan to determine what I had done to myself. The x-rays revealed a herniated disc, 2 degenerated discs and spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal).
I was then scheduled for physical therapy. Weeks passed and the physical therapy did not appear to be working like I had hope, but I continued.
A few weeks passed and one weekend while reading the local OC newspaper I came across an ad on relieving back pain without surgery. The article led me to a procedure using a machine called the DRX9000. Searching day after day on the web I found the Chiropractic Offices of the Irvine Family Health Center and scheduled a consultation with Dr. Timothy Twombly.
After the consultation I felt relieved that there was hope. Dr. Twombly was very professional and helpful in answering any questions I had in relation to the DRX9000 Spinal Decompression process including how it worked and what to expect. A few days later I made up my mind to move forward and contacted Dr. Twombly’s office to schedule my treatments.
The treatments…were painless and easy… All this taking place in an office that was very relaxed and comfortable.
Well, it has been 3 weeks since I completed my treatments and just like I was advised, each day brings me closer to a PAIN-FREE lifestyle. I am slowly returning to the lifestyle I once had – going to the gym, riding my Harley Davidson motorcycle and just enjoying life without pain while all the time remembering that…incorrect lifting technique can cause a pain and suffering that I myself do not want to experience again.

Years of use and abuse had left me with 3 bulging discs …
As a 53 year old male I have noticed over the past decade the ever-increasing maintenance required to keep my body functioning at the performance level I am accustomed to. 30 years in the construction industry, as well as an active lifestyle of surfing, skiing, rock climbing, and kiteboarding (I could go on, but you get the idea) have left me with more than my share of aches and pains. Surgery worked fine to correct the shoulders and knees, but I drew the line when it came to dealing with my back. Years of us and abuse had left me with three bulging discs in my lower back. The frequency of episodes of my back “going out” continued to increase with ever longer recovery periods.
I did not want to have surgery on my back so I chose Spinal Decompression. After 4 or 5 sessions on the DRX9000 I felt greater strength and stability in my back, as well as a dramatic decrease in pain. I continued to improve during the course of my decompression sessions.
Unfortunately, I never completed the entire course [of treatment] as I suffered a serious fall from the third story of a building breaking my wrist and badly shattering my lower right leg. This has left me with a terrible limp as my right leg is now shorter than my left. But even with that, my low back I still healthy and pain free. I cannot imagine going through the rehabilitation regime I have been in if my back hurt like it had prior to my Spinal Decompression. My back remains strong and pain free and I give all the credit to the Spinal Decompression.

I can’t believe how good I feel…
I had a 5.5mm bulge at L5/S1 for the past 3 years and was in pain off and on. Then all of a sudden the pain I had been experiencing before was magnified by 10! Before I began the spinal decompression treatment I was in pain all day. The pain was being caused by a herniated disc in my lower back. I couldn’t stand up straight and had to use crutches to move around. It was causing a tremendous amount of pain while causing other problems at the same time. My lower back pain created tightness in my psoas muscles and hamstring muscles which limited my mobility. The disc also caused me to lose the normal curve in my lumbar spine.
The first week into my treatment I started walking without my crutches. As the treatment continued things got better. My pain was significantly reduced. I started regaining my posture.
Once I hit the 12th spinal decompression treatment I noticed that I was able to move more freely without the pain bothering me. Now I am nearing the end of my treatment and I’m feeling great! I am living life again without worrying about the pain.

When I first visited your office I had so much pain I couldn’t stand up straight and could walk only a few steps at a time. I was not optimistic that spinal decompression therapy would be much help. My MRI showed that I had five compressed and arthritic disks in the lumbar area of my spine. However, I was desperate to avoid back surgery so I was willing to give it a try.

The smallest movements of any kind were very painful.
I had excruciating pain in my lower back and could not stand or sit for any length of time. My left leg felt weak and the pain radiated down my left leg to my foot. The only tolerable position was lying on my side, but, even then, the pain was constant. It hurt to do even the simplest things for the three weeks prior to my treatment on the DRX9000. When I did walk it was very slowly, slightly bent over. Sitting was impossible. The smallest movements of any kind were very painful.
When my DRX9000 treatment began I noticed some slight improvement immediately. Since I had such a large herniation my lower back definitely went through ‘cycles’ of improvement – from some additional discomfort due to the treatment itself (which meant it was working) to gradually less pain and more ease of movement – with each passing week. Once I concluded my DRX9000 treatments I continued to see improvements at the 3-month, 6-month and 9-month intervals. There was no longer any back pain and the nerve pain went away.
My experience at Dr. Kenneth Erickson’s office was great. Their service was professional and attentive and there was always time given to my many questions and concerns.
